Charlie I'd pull the sparkplugs, the motor should then turn real free, if not then something is still wrong. If it spins over nice and free, like the proverbial well oiled machine, then put the plugs back in and try to fire it up. If it still pulls like a pig without the plugs you get to tear it down again.
