Huh?
Comp Board, wot wuz U thinkin?

How can adding 50 pounds help determine equality?
All existing track test and dyno data says the 493 is equal to the legal 494.
Why add another variable to the comparison in actual racing?

This sure isn't going to encourage any young lions to go
add 50 pounds to their cars to try this new motor.

How 'bout some other opinions on this 50 pound thing?

John Whiting, you run at 801 plus or minus a few pounds :->,
how would you feel about adding 50 pounds just to run an equal motor to what
you have now?

This sounds a like either a move to discourage trying the new motor or some
sumtin...

  Board Members:

I am writing to express my support for the proposed rule change regarding
the
acceptance of the Rotax 493 for national competition beginning 01/01/05.
The
addition of the specified 50-lb weight penalty will allow us to properly
determine the level of performance difference, if any, between the 493 and
the
currently-legal 494. This, in turn, will provide time for the class to
transition to the use of a current production engine without immediately
rendering
obsolete the existing fleet of cars.

  Thanks for listening,

  Marshall Mauney
