Richard,
Thanks for the info. The sensor manufacturer says their probe should be
5.9 inches from the piston. Do you happen to know how far it is from
the flange on the block to the piston?

Subject: Re: [F500] Atlanta Tour and EGT questions
John,
It looks like no one responded to your question about the EGT probe
location. Nobody wants to give away the big secret I guess.
Well I went and measured mine. This is an AAEN Y-pipe and tuned pipe.
My
EGT's location is about 1 1/4 inch from the pipe side of the mounting
plate.
This would make it about 1 3/8" from the exhaust port flange. I also am
using fast response probes.
The Y-pipe came to me (used) with one probe location already on it, had
to
make the second one.
Remember to space the probe out enough so that the tip is in the center
of
the pipe.
Also contrary to what Rotax says in their High Performance Section of
the
shop manual, you can not run at 1,330 deg F. and finish a race. I have
the
proof in my junk box in the garage. They recommend the probe 1" from the
piston.
Richard
