I am writing to recommend a clarification to the GCR, with reference to
the Formula 500 class. The current GCR says (FCS-80):
"Authorized changes"

item g: "Rotax 494 engine: Any Rotax 494 model thermostat housing or
water elbow may be used. The water bypass may be blocked".

The Rotax 493 engine which was recently made legal for the class has the
same type of thermostat housing and water elbow as the Rotax 494. To
simplify engine plumbing, blocking the water bypass on the Rotax 493
(just like the Rotax 494) is a desireable solution. To avoid confusion
and ambiguity, I suggest that the wording for this section be changed to
include the Rotax 493 engine as well.

Thank you.
