Sure, he can do it. The question is why would you want 2 sprockets &
chains? Unless you have 300 to 400 HP.

Jay, what I was wondering is if Gary can do splines on boith ends so I
have sprockets on both sides of the shaft?? We have been using sprocket
specialists for over 20 years, they are great. There's no way an
industrial sprocket will stand up to a bike sprocket, period.

Sprocket specialist. The base part number
is 583X & then the number of teeth, 13 to 17. These have a large
diameter at the biggest part of the spline of 25mm. They will work on a
1" shaft but you must use a split clamp as a stop. I love these
sprockets as they are very cheap (around $20) & really last. Gary
Golden at Micro Belmont does the splines for about $100 including a
really good quality shaft. This is the right way to get this job done.

Jay, what sprockets are you guys using and can they spline both ends?

Our splined jackshaft cost around $100 for the complete new shaft.

Ummm, I don't think so. When I had mine turned down the machinist
couldn't believe how hard the sprocket was to cut. He quoted me a price
thinking it would be an easy cut. He broke two cutters and it took
twice as long to do as he expected. Didn't raise the price though :-)
The off the shelf issue would be nice but I think the splined shaft
would offset any cost savings (just a guess, I've never priced one).
